G2 won the WESG Nort-West Europe final over Vitality in three maps, Overpass (12-16), Nuke (16-5), and Mirage (16-11), to qualify for the offline World Finals, which are set to be played in Chongqing, China, next year.
The WESG North-West Europe Qualifier final kicked off with Kenny "kennyS" Schrub getting four pistol kills on the attacking side of Overpass to give his team the lead. G2 then went up 3-0, but as the gun rounds rolled around Vitality turned the tide of the match, taking the lead early on and denying G2’s executes round after round. Lead by Cédric "RpK" Guipouy, who got four big frags in the 11th round to make it 8-3 and then won a 1vs1 against Lucas "Lucky" Chastang to add another on the board for his team, Vitality went on to win the half 11-4.
The second half saw kennyS once again have a big impact round, with three USP kills to help his team win the round. G2 then started to win rounds, slowly but surely creeping up on Vitality, winning the anti-eco and the first gun round, and making it all the way to 7-11. The match then once again turned around, and Vitality put the foot on the accelerator, winning four in a row to get on match point. Richard "shox" Papillon & co. were able to then bring it back to 12 rounds after adjusting their defense, but then lost to an A attack by Vitality on a forcebuy round, making it 1-0 for Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt’s side.
Vitality won their first pistol round of the match on the attacking side of Nuke, but after the eco round it was G2 who took the reins on the CT side, winning three in a row to take the lead. They then went on to completely dominate the half as Vitality kept crashing head first into a wall, unable to get a single round all the way to the break, 2-13. Vitality were able to win the second pistol round as Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer clutched a 1vs2, but G2 were quick to close the map out, 16-5, to take it to the decider.
G2 then started on the right foot on Mirage, taking the first pistol round on the defending side and following it up with the anti-eco. Vitality were able to get on the board in the first buy round, but were instantly reset by G2, who went on to take a 4-1 lead after winning their second anti-eco of the match.
Vitality kept it close as doubles by Dan "apEX" Madesclaire and RpK in one round and a 1vs3 clutch by Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut the following brought it within one. Just as Vitality tied the match back up, a 1vs2 clutch by kennyS retaking with an AWP kept G2 in the lead. After that, G2 were able to keep that momentum going to close the half out 10-5.
Despite two opening frags from apEX in the second pistol round of the map, G2 were able to take it as shox responded with a triple of his own. After losing the eco round, Vitality were able to take the first buy round, making it 6-12, but were instantly reset the following round. Vitality made a push to bring the match back, and made it to double digits, but it was too little as G2 were able to push it across the finish line, 16-11, and qualify for the WESG 2018 World Finals.
